Satellogic Makes Contact with Newly Launched Mark V Satellites

Satellite imagery provider Satellogic successfully launched five additional spacecraft to Sun-Synchronous Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) on Friday aboard SpaceX‘s Transporter-4 Falcon 9 rideshare mission originating from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. The operator confirmed that all five satellites made contact with its ground station network and are in good health.

The launch brings Satellogic’s total number of satellites in orbit to 22 and marks the first deployment of its new Mark V satellite model, which features improved cameras, radios, computers, and other subsystems. The remaining satellites are four updated NewSats Mark IV model. Satellogic said the enhancements include manufacturability and cost saving processes used in preparation for the opening of its new high-throughput manufacturing plant expected to open by the second half of 2022.

Satellogic plans to have 34 commercial satellites in orbit by the end of the first quarter in 2023 and more than 200 satellites in orbit by 2025.
